The Vatican Museums exhibition “Slavic manuscripts of Macedonia”

With the opening of the exhibition “Macedonian Slavic manuscripts from XIII to XIX” in the Vatican museums, tonight starts cultural program of the 46. Manifestation “Macedonia Honoring St. Cyril.”



30 original manuscripts from Macedonia will be presented, owned by the National and University Library “St. Kliment Ohridski” in Skopje, State Archives, the Institute and Museum of Bitola, the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and other institutions.

The exhibition will be opened by President Ivanov and Minister of Culture Elizabeta Kancheska Milevska, which are in Italy on the occasion of the manifestation “Macedonia Honoring St. Cyril.”

According to Minister Kanceska Milevska the exhibition gives huge contribution to informing the international public with original manuscripts from Macedonia.

- With these original manuscripts is confirmed the millennial tradition of written language development of Macedonia. Showing Slavic literary tradition, its standardization by Saints Cyril and Methodius in the second half of the 9th century, said Minister of Culture Kancheska – Milevska.

It is expected to exhibition with the original manuscripts to attract huge attention and have great attendance.

- In the beautiful Vatican Museum, where is the exhibition of ancient and valuable artifacts from various periods, I hope the world will have the opportunity to introduce Macedonia through these valuable original manuscripts, said Kancheska Milevska.

The exhibition is organized by the “Sv. Kliment Ohridski in Skopje.”
