Macedonians in Albania Pledge for Independance of Golo Brdo and Gora Municipalities

Macedonian minority in Albania opposes the new administrative-territorial division of 61 municipality and pledges the municipalities in Golo Brdo and Gora to remain independent, Macedonian Association in Tirana, "Ilinden" informs.

The members of the Macedonian Associations in Albania announce they are opposing the new administrative-territorial division, with 61 municipalities, adopted by the Parliamentary Commission on Territorial reform. The minority Macedonians pledge both municipalities in Golo Brdo and Gora to remain independent, just as it was granted to Municiplaity Pustec, because a large part of the Macedonian minority lives also in these regions and hope that Parliament of the Republic of Albania, will not allow to vote for the adoption of the new map for administrative-territorial division.

"The Macedonian national minority living in Albania perceives the annexing of municipalities in Golo Brdo and Gora as a major setback in the respect of the rights of the Macedonians," the Macedonian Association "Ilinden" Tirana and its affiliate from Golo Brdo state.
